Mountain Rose Maine Coons
Two Year Health Guarantee

Our Health Promise to You

Bringing home a kitten is a joyful and meaningful decision. We take that responsibility seriously and are committed to raising healthy, well-socialized kittens with the very best start in life.

This page explains the health protection we provide and the shared responsibility that helps your kitten thrive for years to come.

๐Ÿฉบ A Healthy Start

At the time your kitten goes home, they are healthy to the best of our knowledge.

We ask that you schedule a wellness exam with your licensed veterinarian within 48 business hours of bringing your kitten home. Early checkups are an important part of a smooth transition and long-term health.

If, during that exam, your veterinarian determines in writing that your kitten is unfit for sale due to a congenital or hereditary condition present at the time of transfer:

  • You may return your kitten, and

  • We will provide a replacement kitten from one of our next three litters (subject to availability; sex and colour cannot be guaranteed).

To activate this, we require:

  • Notification within 24 hours of the diagnosis

  • Written veterinary certification within 3 business day

Veterinary expenses are the responsibility of the purchaser

After the first 48 hours, we cannot be responsible for conditions that may be environmentally acquired (such as FeLV, FIV, FIP, parasites, fungal conditions, or other infectious diseases), as these can arise from exposure outside our home.

๐Ÿ’› Two-Year Genetic Health Guarantee

Your kitten is covered for hereditary and congenital conditions until their second birthday.

In the Rare Event of a Hereditary Loss

If your kitten passes away before age two due to a confirmed hereditary, congenital, or idiopathic condition (and not due to accident, neglect, abuse, or lack of proper care):

  • We will provide one replacement kitten (subject to availability; sex and colour not guaranteed).

  • No cash refunds are provided.

We may request veterinary documentation and, in some cases, a necropsy report.

๐Ÿ›ก Limited Health Reimbursement Support

We highly recommend maintaining continuous Trupanion Pet Health Insurance beyond the complimentary period, we offer limited reimbursement support for certain serious hereditary conditions that materially impact quality of life, up to your kittenโ€™s second birthday.

๐Ÿพ A Healthy Home Environment

To protect all kittens, our health guarantee requires that any resident cats in your home are current on:

  • Core vaccinations (including FVRCP)

  • FeLV vaccination

  • FIV vaccination

Vaccinations must be up to date when your kitten enters your home, and documentation must be provided if requested. This helps ensure a safe, healthy transition.

๐Ÿฆท Breed-Specific Awareness

Maine Coon cats are a wonderful, affectionate breed and may be predisposed to dental and gum disease. Routine dental care and regular veterinary checkups are an important part of responsible ownership.

Our Shared Commitment

To keep your health guarantee in effect, we ask that you:

  • Keep vaccinations current

  • Provide routine veterinary care

  • Keep your kitten indoors only (no free roaming outdoors)

  • Never declaw

  • Never place your kitten in a laboratory or pet shop

Indoor living significantly reduces health risks and protects your kitten from preventable harm.

Declawing or placing a kitten in a laboratory, shelter or pet shop is considered a serious breach of contract and may result in liquidated damages of $10,000 CAD.

A Partnership for Life

Our goal is not just to place kittens โ€” it is to build lifelong relationships with our families. We are always here for support, guidance, and questions as your kitten grows.

When you welcome one of our kittens into your home, you become part of our extended family โ€” and we stand behind the health of the kittens we lovingly raise. ๐Ÿ’›
