How much should I feed my kitten?
Your kitten should have access to high-quality kitten food. Maine Coons benefit from a diet formulated for their growth needs. We feed kittens wet food twice a day and provide kibble at all times. Always provide fresh water.
Can I take my kitten out in public?
Extreme care should be taken when kittens are exposed to public environments until they are fully vaccinated. Your kitten will generally be ready for public outings two weeks after their final vaccinations, which are typically given at 16 weeks of age. Until then, it’s safe to let your kitten explore indoors or in a secure, clean, and private outdoor area (e.g., a fenced yard or screened patio).
Whether you’re curious about our breeding practices, health guarantees, or how to care for your new Maine Coon kitten, we’re here to help. How often should I groom my kitten?
Brushing: Brush your kitten 2-3 times a week to maintain their luxurious coat and prevent matting. Increase frequency during shedding seasons.
Nail trimming: Trim nails weekly or as needed. Introduce paw-handling early to make the process easier.
Bathing: Bathe your Maine Coon every 4-6 months, or as necessary, using a gentle, cat-safe shampoo.
Ear cleaning: Check ears for wax buildup or redness. Clean as needed, using a cat-friendly solution recommended by your vet.
Teeth brushing: Introduce tooth brushing early to promote dental health.
If you’re local, we can provide grooming services tailored to Maine Coons.
When should I schedule my kitten's first vet visit?
We recommend scheduling your kitten’s first wellness visit within two days of bringing your kitten home. The kitten will need their final kitten vaccinations at 16 weeks old. It is recommended that you have this appointment booked before you pick-up your kitten.
