Meet the Owners

Mountain Rose is proudly owned and operated by Paul and Sherri Robicheau. We live on beautiful Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, Canada, where our cats are raised as part of our family in a active, loving home environment. Our shared passion for the Maine Coon breed, combined with years of hands-on experience and dedication to ethical breeding, guides everything we do.

Our Program

At Mountain Rose, we are dedicated to breeding exceptional Maine Coons that embody the perfect harmony of beauty, intelligence, health, and temperament. Our program is built on a foundation of ethical practices, deep respect for the breed, and a genuine love for every cat we raise. Each kitten is thoughtfully bred and lovingly nurtured to become a cherished member of their future family.

Our Approach

Purposeful, Selective Breeding
We thoughtfully select our breeding pairs with careful attention to health, temperament, and adherence to the Maine Coon breed standard. Our goal is to preserve and enhance the defining characteristics that make this breed so remarkable—strength, balance, elegance, and a gentle, engaging personality.

Health & Wellness First
The health of our cats is always our top priority. All kittens receive comprehensive veterinary care, including health screenings, vaccinations, and deworming, before leaving for their new homes. We are committed to responsible breeding practices that support the long-term well-being of both our kittens and adult cats.

Early Socialization & Enrichment
Our kittens are raised in a caring, hands-on environment where early socialization is a daily focus. Through consistent interaction and enrichment, we help each kitten grow into a confident, affectionate, and well-adjusted companion—ready to thrive in their new home.

Excellence Through Exhibition

We believe that responsible breeding is measured not only by temperament and health, but by adherence to the breed standard. To ensure our Maine Coons truly exemplify the qualities of the breed, we actively compete in CCA-AFC sanctioned exhibitions. Showing our cats allows our breeding program to be evaluated by licensed, expert judges and measured against the highest standards in the fancy.

Our cats have earned regional and national awards, recognizing their correct structure, balance, type, and presence in the show hall. These accomplishments affirm our commitment to continuous improvement and provide confidence that every Mountain Rose kitten comes from proven, award-winning lines.

Leadership & Community Involvement

We believe that a truly responsible breeder is also an active and contributing member of the feline community. Beyond our cattery, we are deeply involved in supporting and strengthening the cat fancy through leadership, education, and service.

Paul proudly serves as the CCA-AFC Regional Director for Region 3 (Maritimes) and as President of the Fundy Fanciers Cat Club, working to promote ethical breeding, education, and the continued growth of the sport. In addition, Paul (with Sherri's much appreciated assistance) has facilitated cat-only HCM screening clinics, improving access to essential cardiac testing and supporting better health outcomes for cats throughout our region. We have also coordinated several CCA-AFC sanctioned cat shows in the Maritimes for the Fundy Fanciers Cat Club.
